7/7/2013 – AeroGeeks Week in Review

We apologize for the late post today. We had a little too much fun enjoying the long weekend and almost forgot our week-in-review post. Hope everyone got some great workouts in this weekend!

We posted four great articles this past week. By far the most popular was our First Look at the Specialized Evade. It may not be the most attractive helmet, but when a product helps Cav earn a stage victory it will always be worth a second look. We also had the opportunity to look at Shimano’s new 11-speed Ultegra Di2 system, and we took a deep dive into the different rear hydrations systems that XLAB has to offer. The one article we think a lot of our readers missed was our first look at Shimano’s new Road Disc system, which uses Di2 to minimize the height of the shifters. If you missed it on Monday definitely go back and take a look.

We want to also remind you to head over to http://bit.ly/12nj1d9. 110% is giving away 10 sets of their OverDrive Compression Kit  (of which we’re huge fans)! There is also a grand prize of more than $1K in summer running gear.

For all of our new followers—welcome! One of our favorite ways to showcase our readers is our Readers’ Rides album on Facebook. You can check it out at http://on.fb.me/12jEqE3. If you would like to have your bike featured in our album just tweet us at @AeroGeeks, Facebook message us, or email us at info@AeroGeeks.com.

Current Reviews

1. Giro Air Attack Shield

We have been testing the XX2i frames recently, so we had to once again remove the visor. However, we still find that the Air Attack handles the heat of South Florida extremely well.

2. Profile Design Aero HC System

We celebrated the Fourth with a number of long rides and had the Aero HC system on hand for each one. With the HC pushed all the way forward we have had no issues seeing the computer or reaching the straw.

3. WheelBuilder AeroJacket

This weekend we pulled the AeroJacket off the Reynolds in just about 5 minutes. WheelBuilder.com has created a product that’s perfect for the average Age Grouper to grab that extra bit of speed without a huge impact on the wallet. Stay tuned for our final thoughts next week.

4. Bontrager Hilo RXL Speed Dial

We set the Hilo to the maximum width, and like the fairy tale “Goldilocks and the Three Bears,” we’ve found that the middle setting was “just right.” We’ll be publishing our first thoughts this week.

5. Specialized S-Works Trivent

The stiffness of the shoe continues to impress us with each and every ride. But while that may be our favorite attribute so far, it’s not what the Trivents are most known for. Fear not! Transition practice is coming up on the training schedule, so we’ll see how the “drawbridge” closure works in race conditions.

6. Cobb Cycling Gen 2 Saddle

We published our first thoughts on the Gen 2 last week (hopefully you had a chance to take a look). As always, feel free to send us your questions as we continue with another few weeks of testing.

7. Cobb Cycling Max Saddle

Another week of riding and Tracy continues to enjoy riding the Max. Stay tuned for her thoughts within the next week.

8. Cobb Cycling – Rapido Shorts

The Rapdio shorts are designed for all three sports, so it’s taking some time to fully gather our first impressions. Tracy and Devon have been biking and running in the shorts, and judging by their regular use, they appear to be big fans.

9. Betty Designs – Cycling Kit

While Tracy’s thoughts of the Betty Designs kit are coming tomorrow, we can tell you that the kit is stunning to look at and performs even better.

10. XX2i Optics France1 Pro Racing Kit

We have been thoroughly impressed with the France1 Pro Kit. No, it’s not our Oakley Fast Jackets. But for 40% of the price they don’t have to be. The important question is whether we would ride with these on a regular basis. And after only one week we are leaning towards yes.

11. TriRig Omega

We just received our Omega last week but were anxious to have it installed and ready to go for our weekend rides. Hey, if it’s good enough for Cofidis on the tour, then it should be good enough for us…right?
