While XLAB didn’t have a booth on the show floor, that didn’t stop us from checking out their latest wares. They had two new hydration options for us to check out.
XLAB Torpedo Kompact 500
- The new Torpedo Kompact 500
- Features the Raptor Cage with removable (and bike color matchable) talons
- Includes hyper-reflective COOL SHOT bottle to keep liquids cold.
- A better shot of the talons
- The base plate is unidirectional and carbon fiber
- The short, compact design (just 145mm / 5.7in) is built to handle shorter aerobar setups
- The talons are available in Red, White, Orange and Black
XLAB Vulcan Cage
- The new Vulcan cage from XLAB
- At $14.95, it’s meant to be a more budget-friendly option
- 6 lbs of grip force
I have bought 2-4 products from XLab and I still hate this brand. So overpriced for just a sheet of aluminium or carbon. Unfortunately there is not better competition for rear hydration mounts so they still got me.
Everything about the product design, marketing and branding on the product I find to be over played and cheesy (Raptor, Talon, Vulcan, Torpedo, Sonic Wing, Delta Wing 400). Are you marketing this to 8 year olds?
I much prefer that newer bikes (Canyon, Cervelo, Trek, etc) have integrations so I don’t have to put up with $300 of DIY accessories that look like they came out of a hobbyists garage.
Yeah I agree…I always wondered why the hell this stuff is priced so high…the only thing that is remotely worth it i the Gorilla cage.
