Interbike 2015 – Pinarello

Pinarello was feeling pretty good about themselves at Interbike. Between having three of the past four yellow jersey winners on their frames and now having the UCI World Hour Record – Pinarello bikes have become the gold (make that yellow) standard. And speaking of yellow, Pinarello had a little bit of a rebranding effort at Interbike – Pinayellow.

To highlight these successes, Pinarello brought two of its feature bikes to the show. First up is Chris Froome’s Dogma F8.

Featuring Froomey on the top tube and a raging rhino on the head tube, the bike is a tribute to the man who has spent quite a bit of time in yellow over the past few years.

But Froomey’s bike wasn’t the highlight of the booth. That honor belonged to Bradley Wiggins’ UCI hour record bike – the Pinarello Bolide HR.

This bike is one of three bikes built for the attempt. And while it was not the actual bike used to break the record, it was used by Wiggins as part of his training leading up to the event.

While there are many details of this bike that stand out, certainly the cockpit is the most eye catching. The integrated aerobars are a one-piece titanium affair made with 3D printing, and while we don’t have the exact cost, we can tell you that we can name a few cars that cost less than what it supposedly took to make them.

Wiggins used a crank as aero as the rest of the bike.

He also used Speedplay’s Zero Aero pedals. In fact, he was the first to ride on them.

Pinarello made sure that you know exactly who this bike belongs to.

Built for one purpose, the HR did exactly what it was created to do – break the hour record.
