We are starting to notice a little pattern here at AG. If we race on Sunday, the WiR ends up being a Monday edition. We could lie and say this was due to the amount of rest and recovery we want after every race, but the reality is that we tend to enjoy our celebratory meals and beverages a little too much. But the good news is that it’s Monday, so here is this week’s WiR!
Last week we shared our thoughts on the Smith Optics PivLock Arena. The team was also inundated with new products coming in, but you will have to wait for next week’s WiR to see all the reviews we have in store!
For those visiting for the first time—welcome! One of our favorite ways to showcase our readers is our Readers’ Rides album on Facebook. You can check it out at http://on.fb.me/12jEqE3. If you would like to have your bike featured in our album just tweet us at @AeroGeeks, Facebook message us, or email us at info@AeroGeeks.com.
This Week’s Posts
Wednesday – Smith Optics PivLock Arena – Review
Video of the Week
While we were enjoying our carb-loaded beverages yesterday, we did so while glued to the TV watching the Amgen Tour of California. To have an 8-stage race decided by a time bonus on the finish line was AWESOME. The whole team was grouped around the TV rooting for our favorites. For those who missed it, check out the video below from Wouter Wipperts GoPro for the last 15 seconds of the stage.
Riding With Mavic
While triathlons are our first love, that doesn’t change the fact we simply love watching peloton racing. While riding a grand tour is an obvious fantasy for many, getting into the race caravan is a pretty good second. Mavic is offering the chance for one winner to ride in a yellow Mavic support car during stage 11 of the tour. The winner will receive travel, one night in the “Special Service Course” hotel, and dinner with the Mavic neutral support team the night before Stage 11. Registrations will be open from Monday, April 20th, 2015 until Monday, June 1st, 2015 (all times GMT +1). The contest is restricted to people living in a European country, the United States, and Canada. If that sounds like a good time to you, head on over to http://www.mavic.com/tour-de-france-contest-2015 to enter!
Zwift Opens the Beta
Our Facebook feed has been swamped with ZWIFT posts for the past few weeks. For those who haven’t seen it, ZWIFT lets you take racing indoors to your trainer. Race against your friends or some of the peloton’s best. Coach Tommy has been challenging Jens on a regular basis these past few weeks.
To get going, all you need is an ANT+ device to connect your workout to your Mac or PC. Once your supported device is connected, load up the software (free during the beta period), and then get riding!
Prior to last week, invitations to the Zwift platform had been restricted as part of their closed beta. But last week, Zwift opened up the platform to anyone interested. Zwift has also announced a string of partnerships with the cycling industry’s most prestigious brands including Trek, Trek Factory Racing, Canyon Bicycles, Specialized, and the Richmond 2015 UCI Road World Championships. These and other industry partners will enable an enriched experience for the Zwift community. Earlier this year, Italian bike maker Pinarello became the first brand to be featured in the game and, in an extension of their original relationship, Zwift announced plans for users to unlock and own the Tour de France-winning F8 model within ZWIFT.
For those already on the ZWIFT platform, keep an eye out for Coach Tommy and the rest of the AeroGeeks as we get our training on around the island.
For anyone who might be new to Zwift, there is a fan manual on TitaniumGeek, explaining things that have been found out by the Zwift Facebook group
