Cervelo S3 – First Look

It’s back—Cervelo has resurrected the S3 for 2014. Introduced at Eurobike 2013, the new S3 weighs less than its predecessors and offers more stiffness and aero qualities.

Two models of the S3 will be available as of January 2014—a mechanical version and Di2 model—both equipped with Ultegra. Regardless of model, the 2014 S3 offers enhanced aero performance while improving overall stiffness when compared with the S3 “classic.”

The S3’s down tube shape is designed to shield bottles aerodynamically and a new fork allows for improved lateral stiffness, better tracking and handling, as well as larger tire clearance. You’ll also notice a partial seat tube cutout, which improves airflow around the rear wheel.

Additionally, the S3 offers lightweight, interchangeable ICS (internal cable stops) that click into the frame to fit mechanical, electronic, or hydraulic lines.

Needless to say, we missed the S3 among Cervelo’s lineup and couldn’t be happier to welcome it back.

  2. Amazing how Specialized took a page from Cervelo’s S series, which has always looked like that. rear wheel cut-out? specialized didn’t invent that, neither did cervelo, but they pretty much invented the aero-road category.
