We knew we would be announcing new gear this week – with Kona always comes new gear. But until this morning we weren’t quite sure who would be first to drop the curtain. Today Quintana Roo is the winner with their new PRsix Disc.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the full details on the bike yet. We do know from their limited information that they started with the existing PRsix as their base (which from experience we know is a pretty good place to start). They then went and added mechanical discs front and rear. A further benefit are thru-axles, which Quintana Roo tells us makes the PRsix disc stiffer than ever before, and virtually eliminates wheel slip.

Quintana Roo also rerouted the cables with new internal brake cable routing making for a clean and more aero overall profile.

For those not familiar with the original PRsix – we would be remiss not to give a quick overview. Introduced in 2015, the PRsix is Quintana Roos best of the best super bike. It packs an aerodynamic shape utilizing boat tail cross sections to increase aero efficiency, reduce frame flex and provide greater stability. And then utilizes QR’s SHIFT+ Technology which offsets the Static Aero Downtube towards the drive side of the bike thus redirecting the concentrated airflow away from the ‘dirty’ (drive side) to the ‘clean’ side (non-drive side) of the bike.

The PRsix also gets QR’s integrated stem & top tube storage system. Storage for nutrition and your tool kit have become a must have feature on today’s super bikes and QR was one of the first.

Finally, the PRsix is deceptively easy to build. Requiring just 2 allen wrench sizes which means you don’t have much to pack on race day.
