4-30-2017 WiR – It’s good to be back!

It’s been a while, but after a few months of quiet, we’re back! Many of you reached out and asked what’s up with the silence, so here’s a quick recap of the last several months, as well as a heads-up of what’s to come for Aerogeeks in the future.

Several months ago, our third editor, Devon, decided to leave Aerogeeks due to some big (and great!) life changes. He has some great opportunities ahead of him, and we wish him the very best! As a full partner in the organization, we wanted to be sure we worked with Devon to ensure a smooth transition as he stepped away. The process took a bit longer than we thought. This meant we weren’t able to focus on publishing any new reviews and instead concentrated on continuing the testing process with the products we had.

On top of that, one of our editors also needed to focus a good amount of time training for Ironman Texas, which just took place last week.

Needless to say, we’ve definitely had to juggle a few different priorities. The good news is that we have many reviews in the queue that are way overdue, which will all be published on Aerogeeks.com in the coming weeks.

So, what does this mean for Aerogeeks? We’ll be hitting the ground running once again as of this week, so you’ll start seeing our normal volume of posts once again. We’re excited to share several great pieces of equipment we’ve been using over the last few months, as well as some new gear that’s on the way. We also have some new concepts for the site up our sleeves that will be revealed throughout the year.

It’s good to be back!

AeroGeeks Shirts and Giveaways

Last October we shared our new AeroGeeks LoveThePain shirts. Unfortunately with everything that went on, we never got a chance to truly share them with you. The good news is that will be changing!

Keep an eye out on AeroGeeks.com and our Facebook and Twitter feeds as we give away a few of these beauties!

CeramicSpeed OPWS for Shimano 9100/9150

The CeramicSpeed Oversized Pulley Wheel System has already been available for both SRAM and the previous generation Shimano groupsets, and now its available for the new Shimano 9100/9150 groupsets. Because of the design of the 9100 derailleur, the R&D team at CeramicSpeed has tested and concluded that the best performing combination of oversized pulleys is 13-tooth upper and 19-tooth lower pulley. The design of the original derailleur does not allow for a pulley wheel to be larger than 13-tooth in the upper slot. With the 13-tooth upper pulley in place, there was more space for the lower pulley, and thus the 19-tooth option was found optimal.

Compared to the original Shimano pulley wheels, CeramicSpeed’s in-house tests have shown 30% less friction in the new CeramicSpeed OSPW System. We actually have had a full CeramicSpeed upgrade kit on one of our test bikes for the past few months, including an OPWS, and you can expect to see our full thoughts in the coming weeks!

New Flavors from GU

While we were gone, GU launched two new flavors – Gingerade and Tutti Frutti. And while we haven’t gotten a chance to try them yet, we are super excited for the opportunity.

We’ve all had our stomachs churn either on the bike or on the run. And the thought of ginger sounds like the perfect way to sooth the stomach and get some needed carbohydrates, sodium, and amino acids. If you have already given these a shout, let us know! We will be keeping an eye out at our local bike shop for them as well.
