Kona 2015 – The Bikes of the World Champions

The bikes of the world champions are truly sights to behold. Both Jan and Daniela have access to the best of the best equipment, and it shows in their selections. Interestingly enough, we also couldn’t find any equipment duplicated between the two.

Jan Frodeno’s Canyon Speedmax

Jan has been racing on the brand new Canyon Speedmax CF SLX for a while now, winning the Ironman European World Championship with it. The new Speedmax handles all of his hydration and fueling needs.

Upfront, Jan swapped out the extensions that come with the Speedmax for a pair of Zipp Vuka Race extensions. At the end of the bars are the controls for SRAM’s new wireless electronic RED eTAP. Attached to the RED crank was a set of Speedplay Zero Aeros and a Quarq power meter. And as for saddles, Jan went with a Fizik Tritone.

To handle the road, Jan rode to victory on a set of the new Zipp 808 NSW Carbon Clinchers.

Daniela Ryf’s Felt IA

Daniela added another notch to the belt of the Felt IA with yesterday’s winning ride.

Ryf equipped her IA with a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset and rode atop HED Jet wheels wrapped in Felt rubber.

Ryf’s IA is a rolling example of XLAB’s latest gear. Up front is a Torpedo System, and on the seat tube is an Aero TT bottle. Out back is the new Aero Pouch 300.
