So without further ado:

Answering the question of “What is your favorite piece of gear and why?” on Aerogeeks.com –

Todd’s favorite piece of gear is his ISM Adamo saddle.

It is where I spend the most of my time when training and racing. The reason I like it so much is because I don’t get numbness anymore which, as a young man, is quite scary. Nothing compares to that feeling of relief when you get feeling back. Now I don’t have to worry.

And on Facebook – “What was your favorite race and why?”

Kent Cowgill’s favorite race was his first 70.3.

After my first 70.3 I had a post-race high that lasted a few weeks. During the run, I kept the song “Everything Is Awesome” on a continual loop because of how supremely happy I was to have trained for and participated. Icing on the cake, my wife and kids were there at the finish line. And I have an awesome picture high-fiving my wife

Congrats to both of our winners! And since we have to choose a favorite to decide who gets first pick from our two awesome prize packs, we’ve selected Kent…. mostly because we now have “Everything is Awesome” stuck in our heads as well!

The Hour Falls Again

Well, that didn’t take long. We barely had a chance to finish celebrating Jens’ record-breaking ride before a new title-winner came along. Thursday, Matthias Brandle stole the hour record from Jens with a final distance of 51.85km aboard a modified Scott Plasma 5. Check out the video below documenting his attempt as well as our gallery of the Plasma 5 that took him to the record.

GU Carmel Macchiato

Saying that Tracy, our multisport editor, is a bit of a coffee fiend is probably an understatement. So it was no surprise that she was especially excited when GU released Caramel Macchiato. The flavor is reminiscent of GU’s salted caramel, but with a definite coffee kick. You’ll also get a boost of caffeine in this tasty package—about 40mg worth. With the way this flavor has already gone missing from our GU stash, we’re pretty sure Carmel Macchiato is quickly becoming a favorite around here.

Osmo for Kids

Osmo makes some pretty cool products for adults. The AG team has become big fans of Osmo’s PreLoad gender-specific hydration, which helps prep your body before workouts in the hottest conditions (an all-too-frequent occurrence here in South Florida). And while they have had women’s and men’s products available for a while, they recognized there was one member of the family who wasn’t covered by their line – the kids.

Osmo

Osmo for Kids changes that. Made with organic fruit and containing no artificial colors or hidden ingredients, “Awesome Orange” Osmo for Kids is formulated for all kids and all occasions. Formulated with kid-specific sodium, potassium, and sugar, the new formula tastes great (we got a chance to try it at Interbike). We also think it’s something most parents will appreciate versus the one-size-fits-all approach of most sports drinks. Oh, and we can’t forget to mention that the Kids’ formula uses organic freeze-dried fruit with added organic tangerine oil to “punch up” the flavor for kids’ palates.

Current Review

  1. Look Keo Blade 2 – We raced a 70.3 with them and felt like every watt was getting to the disc out back. We are big fans of these pedals.
  2. Zipp 808/Super-9 – Had a chance to ride these in a 15mph cross wind at the Miami 70.3. Never once did we question the decision to go disc. The bike was stable throughout, and the only time we felt the disc was in gusts.
  3. Rudy Project Wing 57 – Went 56 miles with the Wing 57, and we felt like we were in a road helmet the entire time. Very comfortable, and the visor is the perfect distance from your face.
  4. Trek Speed Concept 7 Series Project One – We haven’t had a chance to ride the speed concept as much as we have wanted, but the schedule is clearing up and we finally can get some miles in. First off, we just cannot get over how much we love riding Ultegra Di2. Second, the Speed Concept handles beautifully. Even with the deep wheels, it’s a smooth ride that seems unaffected by the wind.
  5. Flo Disc – We’ve been riding the FLO DISC for a little while, and believe us when we tell you, this thing is FAST! We’ve had it out in some stiff crosswinds and found it to be a perfectly manageable and
