2014 Boardman AiR TTE 9.8 – First Look

On Wednesday, Boardman Bikes introduced the world to the frame they hope will propel Peter Jacobs to his second Ironman World Championship – the AiR/TTE. Details were noticeably short (the official unveiling is scheduled for November 7th). However, Boardman did share that the improved aerodynamics led to a 20% improvement in the frame over the previous AiR TT 9.8 (although they did not specify what exactly that 20% relates to).

Looking at the bike, we see a much higher level of integration when compared with the previous bike, including a fully integrated front end with no visible wires. The front brakes are completely integrated into the fork as well. Compared to the TT, the TTE has a much more organic shape, without the sharp angles of the TT – how this translates in the tunnel and on the road is something we still have to see.

Boardman did also share specs on the Ultegra and Dura Ace builds which you can find below – specific pricing will be released in November so stay tuned until then and keep an eye on Jacobs on Saturday to see the new frame in action!
